Counted, not typed
Steps come from your iPhone's motion sensor and Apple Health, signed by your phone. Apple Watch, Garmin and Fitbit all count. Nothing can be entered by hand, and everyone can see where each count came from.
Never lose on a technicality
Steps sync in the background and the app tells you when tonight is locked in. If you're still short at 9 pm, it says so.
Private, free, no money held
Leagues are invite-only, joining is always free, and there are no cash pots. Hosting a league costs less than a coffee.
Questions people ask
Where do I get Stepr?
Stepr is on the App Store for iPhone: search “Stepr” or tap the Download on the App Store badge on this page. Joining a league is free.
Is Stepr free?
Joining a league is free, always. Only the host pays after launch: $18.99 once for one league, or $9.99 a month for unlimited hosting. During launch, hosting is free too.
How does a Stepr league work?
Someone starts a league and shares a six-character code. Day one needs 2,000 steps; every day the goal rises by 250. Anyone under the goal when the day ends is out, and the last one walking wins.
Can people cheat by typing in steps?
No. Steps come from the iPhone's motion sensor and Apple Health, are signed by the phone, and cannot be entered by hand. Everyone can see which kind of device recorded each count.
Does Stepr work on Android?
Not yet. Stepr reads steps from the iPhone, so every player needs an iPhone today. Anyone with a league's code can follow its live standings page.
Can I run a step challenge at work?
Yes. A league holds up to 100 colleagues, joining is free for every employee, and days settle themselves, so there is no spreadsheet to chase. Team lobbies let departments compete with a combined daily goal.
How long does a step challenge last?
A league ends when one player is left, usually three to six weeks with the default ladder. A smaller daily increase runs longer, so a group wanting to walk together until the end of the year can set a gentler climb or run a fresh season each month.
